Photoactive Organic/Inorganic Hybrid Materials with Nanosegregated Donor–Acceptor Arrays

The synthesis of the first mesogenic donor-acceptor polyoxometalate (POM)-based hybrid is herein described. structural and electronic properties compound were evaluated through combination small- wide-angle X-ray scattering, optical microscopy, electrochemistry photoluminescence. In solid state, behaves as a birefringent solid, displaying lamellar organization in which double-layers POMs bis(thiophene)thienothiophene organic donors alternate regularly. Noticeably, sub-unit organizations composite are similar to that observed for individual POM donor precursors. Photophysical studies show hybrid, fluorescence unit considerably quenched both solution attributed occurrence intramolecular charge-separated state.
